New York City

When it comes to traveling to New York City for the holidays, visitors want to see anything and everything they possibly can. With so much to see and do, visitors can become overwhelmed and can end up missing sites they had on their list. In order to squeeze everything in on your New York City holiday trip, consider these helpful do’s and don’ts of seeing the city during the holiday season.

What to Do- Be sure to take in the sites of Rockefeller Center during the holidays. The tree and decorations make this popular area a must see, especially during the evening hours. Leading up to Christmas, the tree lights remain on until 11:30pm so visitors have plenty of time to take in the sites.

What to Avoid- While the ice rink is very inviting; you could find yourself standing in line for hours to enjoy it. Instead, consider the ice rink in Central Park for the time being and return to the ice rink at Rockefeller Center in January.

What to Do- The famous toy store FAO Schwarz is a highlight of everyone’s visit. No matter your age, the giant floor piano will bring joy to any child’s heart.

What to Avoid- In order to see all that the toy store has to offer, be sure to arrive when the doors open. Waiting until the later in the day will mean lines along the block.

What to Do- Santaland in Macy’s will become a fast holiday tradition for families. Festive decorations and Santa Clause is sure to please every member of your family.

What to Avoid- If you are hoping to enjoy this site, stop in during the weekdays around open or close to avoid serious lines.

What to Do- Grabbing tickets for a major holiday show is essential for your holiday trip to New York City. Between the Radio City Rockettes and the St. John Winter Solstice, your trip would not be dull.

What to Avoid- Never limit your trip to only well-known shows in the city. Leave yourself open to take in several smaller venues as well while visiting New York City.
