The Eastern State Penitentiary and The Barnes Museum, Philadelphia, PA - Thursday, March 10, 2022

Join Superior Tours as we visit the world's FIRST true penitentiary, Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, PA. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious lawbreakers, including "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone. Together we'll walk the cellblocks, examine the revolutionary architecture, and hear true escape stories! Built around 1830 and operated until 1971, amazingly just a few blocks from Philadelphia's Center City, you don't want to miss this incredible tour.

We'll continue our day at the Barnes Museum where one of the world's greatest collections of modern European paintings, by world renowed artisits, including Renoir, Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Modigliani, are housed. With artwork valued at over $6 billion, this spectacular museum also features African art, Native American ceramics, Greek antiquities, Pennsylvania German furniture, and decorative ironwork.  Albert C. Barnes assembled this vast collection of works between 1912 and 1951, arranging them in "ensembles" that include objects from across history and around the globe.

We are excited to share what promises to be a most memorable day with you!
